Lucy Lauener - A Sheffield Artist
My work has several directions and crosses a variety of mediums such as textiles, painting, printing, photography and drawing. I also like to mix different techniques together, creating interesting and inspiring contemporary artwork.
People are important in life, and so is fun. I like to connect with people via art works, conveying the feeling of joy, peace, or love, or address spiritual, social or sometimes political issues. Art can be used to bring subconscious raw emotion that is behind our conscious actions, into our consciousness. My artwork acts as a starting point for thought and discussion about important issues.
I do this sometimes through the use of colour, taking inspiration from landscapes and the forces of nature, sometimes from printed figures with stitched bits of text, maybe news headlines, excerpts from The Bible, or ideas from my ongoing notebook.
